The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Bacteria are essential to all forms of life, but pathogenic bacteria are a leading cause of death on the planet. Antibiotics may be considered one of the greatest discoveries in medicine due to the hundred of lives they have saved. However, the overuse has lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant strains. It is estimated by 2050, antibiotic-resistant bacteria will be the cause of 10-100 million deaths/year. Phage, or viruses that infect bacteria, may be the solution. Come learn about bacteria, phage, and have "phun" with bacteria art!
